Once you have unlocked the FORTE Editor, you can edit all your scores, write and edit notes, and export your score.
Creating a new score
To write a new score, select New Document on the home screen. Enter a title for your score and optionally add other information. When you are ready, select Done in the upper right corner.
Now you can assemble your score individually using Drag & Drop. Simply select the desired instruments from the list on the left and drag them to the right in the desired sequence. When you are ready, select Done in the upper right corner.
In the next step, you can specify the desired time signature, key, tempo and the total number of bars. These parameters can also be changed later. When you are ready, select Done in the upper right corner.
Writing and editing notes
You will now be taken to the score view. To open the editor, select the editor icon in the menu bar at the bottom: It is the second icon from the right. Now the editor toolbar is displayed above the score.
To enter notes, use the keyboard icon at the bottom right to choose between a piano keyboard, bass and guitar frets, and a flute to make your input easier.
Now open the note input menu (note icon with plus sign) at the top to start writing notes.
In the note input menu, you have the option of switching between notes and rests, selecting the note value and activating a different voice.
Now select the desired note from the keyboard to insert it directly, or place the note directly into the score.
Tip: Zoom into the score by dragging two fingers apart on the touch screen to make note input much easier.
Use the eraser icon to delete misplaced notes. Alternatively, you can touch the note and then drag it directly to the correct position.
In the editor toolbar you have a whole range of additional options: Set a new key or time signature, add volume, articulation marks or lyrics, add grace notes, repeat marks or set a new tempo.
In the options menu (icon on the far left) you can insert new measures, copy and paste notes, and transpose individual staves or the entire score as desired.
Exporting notes
Select the Share icon on the left below the score. Now you have the choice between different file formats (.fnfm, .xml, .mxl, .mid, .pdf and .wav). Select your desired format and now choose whether you want to save or share the file.
Select Share File to export the score into a selection of additional apps. The exact selection of apps displayed depends on your individual system settings and pre-installations.
